Spoils of the trip and book recommendations

I've come back from one week away from home and brought back some beautiful yarn with me.

Wróciłam z tygodniowej podróży i przywiozłam ze sobą kilka pięknych motków.

Unfortunately I cannot recognise the colour name by the look of them as they came without labels and I kinda have hard time to assign the invoice with the product 😓 but I love those colours and can't wait to start using them. But not before I finish one of my WIPs... Fingers crossed it will happen before this weekend😏

Niestety, wełenka nie ma banderolek i nie jestem w stanie przyporządkować kolorów na podstawie faktury, nazwy nie są jednoznaczne 😓ale kolory są piękne i już nie mogę się doczekać kolejnej robótki. Ale najpierw muszę coś skończyc z mojej aktualnie rozgrzebanej góry "dzjeie się"... Mam nadzieję że się uda przed końcem tygodnia 😏

On the other hobbies topic, I finished two books when I was away. The first one a documentary about cosa nostra, my book was in German (practicing my language skills and, oh my, how I can say no to free book anyway?) but the original is in English, I believe. It shows the sicilian mafia since 19th century until 2006, highly recomend if the topic is interesting to you.

Zmieniając temat, skończyłam czytać dwie książki w trakcie tego krótkiego urlopu. Pierwsza to dokument o cosa nostrze, mój egzemplarz był po niemiecku (doskonalę język, a poza tym, kimże ja jestem żeby narzekać na darmową książkę?) ale oryginał jest angielski jak sądzę. Książka przedstawia dzieje od 19go wieku do 2006 roku, serdecznie polecam jeśli lubicie dokumenty w tej tematyce.

Crime story taking place in Baden Baden. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to another books by this author.

Jest to kryminał którego akcja dzieje się w Baden Baden. Czytanie sprawiło mi dużą przyjemność i już się cieszę na inne książki tej autorki.

Here we go again...

To answer my own question from the previous post - no, this cardigan won't ever be finished.

I died next skein of yarn. Even knitted one sleeve. Tried it on and guess what? This whole thing was too big by at least one size. As I don't plan do expand to the next level in this area. Ok, I thought, I have enough to make myself a nice boxy. I'll look nice in a boxy, everyone does, right? RIGHT? I kntted the whole body, top down, tried it on. I guess I'm the only exception to this "everyone" because I don't like the look myself in it AT ALL. Duh. I'm giving this project a bit of reting time and will think if I want to finish it anyway or it's destiny is in a frog pond.

Currently on my needles a top down reglan. I brought some rustic yarn from my trip to Estonia last year. It feels a bit itchy when knitted but I think I can wear it. I hope. I calculated everything for this sweater myself and have not big experience at it.

Of course it is not the only thing on the needles right now. I have shawl (there will be story in separete post), two pair of socks and some spinning in the pipelines.

As for the cardigan from the previous post - not sure if it ever will be finished. The body is fone and I am (but of course) out of yarn. I have this much left:

Master Wu is providing the unit of measurement. Not much for 2 sleeves in size L, huh? As I hand-dyed it the chances I'll get same colour second time are minimal. I'm considering using another colour but I'm still not convinienced. I'm waiting for the yarn so I have a bit more time to think about it.

I finally finished spinning and plying some roving (strongly suspect it to be shetland). I started spinning it around September and abandoned the wheel for couple of months. I'm happy with the result:

It is quite rustic and should be good for a pair of nice vanila socks.

Old year, new plans

My, my... skipped a bit on updates.

I've been on dyeing spree the last couple of weeks and knitted quite a bit of socks (some photos will follow up. Eventually. Sometime).

Among others I dyed 3 skeins of merino superwash yarn and decided to play yarn chicken. I had participated in Iga  pattern test couple of years ago and decided to repeat this pattern as I gifted the sweater away. Now, having only 1200m of yarn I'd say I have a good chance to run out of it before I can finish.

Here the progress, I started yesterday:

The colour in this picture is not very accurate, blame it on the light today. I'll try to make better pictures once the whole thing is finished.

Travel plans

I'm traveling tomorrow and I'm taking this project with me:

It is a simple shawl of which I have around 1/3 done. As I'll be away for over a week there is small chance it will be finished before I return. The yarn I use is Holst Supersoft. Don't let this name deceive you, this yarn is rather rustic and is definitely not soft. It gets better once it is washed (there is some spinning oil residue) but it is a bit scratchy even after soaking. Which is completely fine with me but be warned ;)

The little project bag I sew myself last week. It is a prototype and I'm quite happy with the outcome. Probably more to come as this was fun to make and the size is quite nice.

One needs to start somewhere...

Hi,

I was thinking about creating a blog for a long time but thinking was all I actually all I did. Today a decision was made to stop thinking and start doing so here I am.

I'm all around yarn and so will  be this blog - about knitting, spinning and sometimes about sewing.
